Greggs Customs built 2013 Yamaha R1

We built this 2013 Yamaha R1 for a customer who wanted to stand out a bit. The carbon body work was already on the bike but the customer really wanted to set it off, so he asked us to do some upgrades.

We started with a couple pieces from inventory to clean up the front of the bike. Mirror block off plates and flush-mount turn signals were powdercoated to match the bike’s grey bodywork. We then set off to make some more dramatic changes to the bike. A custom exhaust was fabbed up to fit the factory location, but with smaller tubes and billet end-caps. This really let the cross-plane’s engine notes be heard! Next was building the hand-made single sided swingarm for the bike.This trellis style arm would hold the 240 rear tire mounted on a Ducati Diavel rear rim. The front Diavel wheel was made to fit the factory R1 rotors with a cnc’d adapter plate. Then it was off to the oven with them. A particularly eye-catching color of blue for the rims with a flat clear over it, so they didn’t scream too loud, really set this bike off! The bike has the perfect balance of subtle bling, and if the rims don’t catch your eye, you might walk right by  and miss all the details on this bike. Being that the R1 is one of our favorite bikes to customize (and ride) we were more than happy to have this 2013 Yamaha R1 roll out of the shop and into your social media feeds for a good portion of 2016. Here is our 2012 Ride for Kids Honda project. We started with a new CBR250 and went in the direction of a street “scrambler” with 19″ P.M. Wheels and Dunlop flat track tires. The 2011 Cycle World Ride for Kids® project bike.  We only had about a month but were able to complete it with the help of great friends and business associates.  It was quite an enjoyable build.  Thanks to all the supporters!   We started with a new CBR1000rr and ended up with a modern version of the great CB750 Supersport.  This bike will tour with the IMS shows over the next few months.  Go check it out at your nearby show.  Raffle tickets are being sold and the bike will be given to the lucky winner after the show circuit.  You can buy tickets at www.rideforkids.com.  All ticket sales will go directly to help sick chidren and their families.

We wanted to build a race themed Busa so we styled it after the Rockstar Makita GSXR-1000 that Ben Spies and Matt Mladin were riding at the time.  This bike also introduced our popular GSXR tailsection conversion for all years Busa.  You can purchase this kit in our online store.  A G.C. The chassis was completely designed and built in house at G.C.  505 lbs. with some gas.  Feels like sitting on a B-29 engine!  240 rear, 120 front, 102 c.i., Ti brkts., Chromo chassis, Marzocchi, Penske, P.M.,  G.C. Aluminum bodywork, G.C. Wheels.

This is the first bike that Gregg built from the ground up.  The frame/swingarm were designed and built completely in-house from raw materials.  Same goes for the bodywork, exhaust system etc.  The engine is from a Honda RC-51.  Running weight with some gas is about 405 lbs.  The chassis is chromoly and the bodywork is aluminum.  Wheels are PVM.  Front brakes are AP.  This bike is a blast in the hills.  Check it out.  Let me know what you think.

Finished just before MotoGP at Laguna Seca. It’s a 3rd gen. R1 That’s been cut down and given the GC treatment. It’s got a custom hand fabbed aluminum subframe with flat track style tailsection.  The swingarm is a single sided made in house with a “works” finish of exposed weld h.a.z.
